I agree. But the same is true in the other direction, as well: your choice of values is not <i>instrumentally</i> neutral. The dominance of Western thought it owned far more to the simple fact that it <i>worked</i> than anything else. You can not simply return to other, defeated value systems, because the bar has been raised. The 'luck factor' is not touched by many, yes<br /><br />Also I'm starting to notice most of those success story involve getting hitched or being rich somewhere in the line, as if these were the pinnacle of success. I've got to say though that most of those self-help books always tend to paint your... call of life as something easy, as if everything will fall in place once you decide what you want to do.
